The Perfect Day... For Someone Else

Sometimes in life things are just, in one word, perfect. All the stars align, everything is in place, and nothing can go wrong. Today was exactly not that. Nothing went according to any sort of plan. I woke up this morning intending to see Breaking Legs. However, Thomas came to my room and convinced me to beg for tickets with him for American Honey. So i got up, got a fancy dress and heels on, and headed for Cannes. I begged on the street for at least two hours in the hot, unforgiving sun. The best part is that my dark blue purse bled onto my beige purse, staining it. And after all of that, Thomas got a ticket and I did not. So after a self-loathing lunch, I went to see Odd Job with Hamilton on a whim. That film was actually really entertaining. I am actually happy I made a last-minute choice to see it. Right after that film, we rushed over to the Lerins theaters to catch the film Bilal. I wasn't expecting much from this film, but it was fantastic! No it wasn't the best film, but it was much better than I expected.

After we got out of that film, we started the begging process for The Nice Guys. Wow was that just terrible. I stood out on these terrible heels for about 3 hours just praying that someone would hand me  a ticket. However, everyone else apparently prayed harder than I did. One by one everyone would leave to go stand in line for the premiere. As I was loosing hope a man walked up to me. Here it was, this man was going to turn my night around! He reads my sign, looks me up and down, and reaches into his suit pocket. I was getting so excited! He slowly takes his hand out of his pocket and pulls out... a phone. And takes a picture of me because he thinks it's "just so funny." So, I did not get a ticket, I did not get to see Ryan Gosling or Shia, or Russell Crow. I didn't even go to the party at the American Pavilion afterwards. And I don't even know why! So I ended up coming back to the apartment, getting in my pyjamas, writing my review, eating some ice-cream and talking to my super sweet boyfriend. So in the end, today didn't turn out to be too bad after all.
