Only today have I realized that the date of the blog is posted regardless of if I write it or not.
So today was a slow one. Not much done, not many movies seen. I turned in early tonight in hopes of waking up early enough to see the Big Friendly Giant premiere at the Lumiere theater. As for today, I only had the opportunity to see three films. I saw Force of Destiny in the morning. As a group, we got to meet one of the leads "Mia" in the film. It was a really unique and interesting opportunity. After that, me and a couple of others went to grab lunch at the Bagel Cafe and hit the shops for a little bit. After seeing a pair of shorts for 120 euros, that is when we decided it was time to go. On the way back Shelby realised that she left her badge in the dressing room of Zara! So she ran back to get it. Luckily no one stole it, so she's safe, for now.
After that chaotic mess, we stood in line for The Dancer. However, so did the rest of the festival. The line was extremely long and there were not enough seats for us. Defeated, we rushed over to the film Cheer UP. I expected this to be a funny cheerleader film that I could make fun of and possibly "cheer up." Boy was I wrong. This film was so terribly sad. The coach of this failing team ended up getting pregnant from a man she met once off of Tinder. And my biggest concern in the film was who was watching her dog while she was gone! However, even thought that film was not what I expected, it was one of the better films that I have seen all festival. Once we go out, we went to the AM PAV for a while and grabbed a bite to eat. We also drooled over the yachts as we walked by them. There was the coolest husky on one of those things. Anyways, after crying, we stood in line for Exil. Sadly, we did not make the cut for that film either. So I was pretty upset with that outcome as well. At that point we didn't know what to do.
For a little while, we walked around aimlessly trying to decide what to do with our lives. We tried getting into I Married a Dumbs just to take a quick nap. But we couldn't even get into that. So for the next film, Money Monster, I was determined to get into that theater. I started waiting outside no less than an hour and a half before the doors opened. I managed to make the showing and get great seats in the process. This film was great. I needed to see a film that was just pure entertainment for once. This festival is full of crazy films. So seeing Money Monster was quite a relief. Plus, who doesn't love George Clooney?
So that was day 3. Nothing too excited, but still Cannes is amazing. Here's hoping tomorrow someone feels bad enough for me to give me a premier ticket!
